♥ Thérèse's Art Gallery and Portfolio ♥

Art has always been very important to me. I am a self-taught artist, and I started drawing from a very young age and have always loved it! Since I was homeschooled, I had more spare time than most kids, so I was able to really hone my art skills. I remember when I was about eight, I got a Disney Princess art book as a gift that really helped me understand anatomy better.

I also grew up reading and watching a handful of manga and anime, and it quickly became my favored art style. My art style is also very influenced by retro shojo/magical girl anime because I love the sparkly, expressive eyes, the cute characters, and the overall more gentle and charming feel of the genre.

I am also an avid lover of the fine arts, literature, fairy tales, and my Catholic faith, so I incorporate a lot of those themes in my anime art: princesses, ballerinas, mermaids, fairies/spirits, European and Japanese cultures, angels...But I will sometimes incorporate more contemporary themes like pop groups, modern fashion, lolita fashion, kawaii culture, a lot of which, I think, stem from my love of anime.

I work with mediums such as watercolors, colored pencils, alcohol markers, and fine line ink pens (but I tend to use digital graphics for a lot of the backgrounds of my art pieces). I love traditional art. Not only is it a calming and contemplative art form, through it, I can share beautiful themes that I hope will inspire and uplift people from this fast-paced world that so often feels mundane and meaningless.

I hope my art makes you smile and helps you remember to stop and take notice all of the beauty and whimsy around us every day!
