Welcome to our magical, little world here at Vintage Shojo Princess! If you love the pretty and charming shojo anime art styles and stories from bygone decades, chances are you have entered the correct enchanted wonderland! But instead of making fanfiction and fanart of popular manga/anime franchises, my younger sister, Magdalene, and I started this website as a way to share our dreamy, original anime art and stories with all of you!

Our website name comes from our love of vintage shojo/magical girl anime art styles and how greatly they have influenced our own art styles. The 'Princess' part of the name is meant to mirror the dreamy, fairy tale aesthetic of our art.

We both grew up reading and watching a handful of manga and anime, and it quickly became our favored art style. We really wanted to draw manga as well as the Japanese, though, so we tried to find some good manga and anime to provide inspiration and art references. Even though we found some that we loved, we didn't like the mature/explicit content in a lot of them (we truly believe that offensive content in media is bad for people’s mental and spiritual wellbeing) or they just didn't seem that creative, interesting, or fun.
Since we couldn’t find the content we wanted, we decided to make our own manga and light novels. One of our goals is to make our content family-friendly, yet we try hard to keep them from becoming too boring or dumbed-down as a result. Our art styles are also very influenced by retro shojo/magical girl anime because we love the sparkly, expressive eyes and beautiful artwork, the cute characters, and the overall more gentle and charming feel of the genre.

We hope you find something that interests you here, whether it's our art galleries filled with cute, dreamy, and intricately-detailed art; our blog, where we share our thoughts on art, writing, or life in general; or a sneak peek into 'La La Mermaid', my debut cozy fantasy meets magical girl indie light novel, which also reflects our values and ideals. It's a cute, family-friendly, story with Barbie movie vibes (the old animated ones) and pretty illustrations and character types based on magical girl manga/anime from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. You can even peruse 'La La Mermaid'-related merch on our Shop page!

Our goal here at Vintage Shojo Princess is to provide original, creative shojo-inspired stories and art with the familiar themes you know and love from mainstream shojo/magical girl manga and anime (think magical girls, magical creatures, magical items, etc.) while incorporating stories and characters that entertain and inspire, free from graphic or dark content. Have a beautiful day and thank you for dropping by!
