Magdalene's Art Gallery and Portfolio

I am a Catholic, home-schooled artist who loves creating cute, pretty and clean manga art and characters. I started drawing before I could read, and have enjoyed anime for as long as I can remember. While I did not watch or read very many shojo anime or manga growing up, I was always drawn to the beautiful art style. I remember being captivated by the large, shiny eyes of shojo main characters.

The elegant shojo art of the 70s/80s is my main source of inspiration for my art style. I like to incorporate aspects of 2000s shojo art, too, as well as some newer kawaii aesthetics. I also tend to take from other art forms such as fine art, Impressionist paintings and various children’s book illustrations.

As I am a self-taught artist, I learned to draw through a lot of trial and error and observation. I am always trying to improve my craft; I don’t believe I’ll ever be done learning! However my art may change, I wish to always portray themes of beauty and innocence without compromising detail or imagination.

All of my art is hand-drawn using traditional mediums such as alcohol markers, watercolors, colored pencils, fine line pens and nib and ink. I will use digital graphics for backgrounds and Clip Studio Paint for correcting mistakes. I do not use AI whatsoever.

Aside from drawing, my other interests include playing video games, stargazing, watching ballets online and reading fairy tales and other classic children's literature. I also love tea, sweets, dolls and Barbie movies!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope my art brings a little happiness to your day!
